Field Trip: 1st Source Bank

1st Source Bank is an Indiana-based bank founded in South Bend in 1863. The EOC is glad to connect with a bank with such a long history. The Summer Program participants enjoyed their time touring one of the Fort Wayne branches and learning smart money practices.

Sweetwater Sound is one of the top companies in the US that sells musical equipment and audio technology. The EOC is grateful for the opportunity to take our Summer Program participants to Sweetwater for tour of their campus. Read below some of what our students learned and enjoyed from their visit.

Field Trip: Black Pine Animal Sanctuary

Our children Summer Program participants took a field trip to Black Pine Animal Sanctuary. The sanctuary describes their mission as: “Black Pine Animal Sanctuary exists to provide refuge to displaced, captive-raised exotic animals for the REST of their lives, and to educate people about responsible animal care and conservation.”

The tutors and kids were afraid rain would prevent them from visiting the sanctuary, but the weather cleared up in enough time to make a quick visit. Everyone was excited and had a great time. The kids wrote thank you letters to Lori Gagen, the Executive Director of the sanctuary.

Below are some of the letters:

Great American Cleanup 2016

May 21, 2016 was The Great American Cleanup Day. Across the US and in Fort Wayne, people volunteered to cleanup our city. We had a great turnout at the EOC. Weeds were pulled and direction arrows were painted in our parking lot. Thank you so much for all your help! The spring cleaning looks nice!
